De rode vari (of Varecia rubra) is een met uitsterven bedreigde primatensoort die voorkomt in de regenwouden van het schiereiland Masoala op Madagaskar. De halfaap heeft gele ogen, een spitse zwarte snuit omringd door een 'kraag' van rood haar en een dikke rode vacht. De staart en poten zijn zwart en op zijn kop heeft hij nog een plukje wit haar.
