De nevelpanter is een middelgrote boomkat die voorkomt in de bossen en graslanden van Zuidoost-Azië. Hij heeft een gele tot grijze vacht met grote, zwarte, netvormige ringen. Zijn kop, poten en staart hebben zwarte stippen en strepen. Nevelpanters zijn 69 tot 108 cm lang, met een staart van 61 tot 91 cm. Mannetjes zijn groter dan vrouwtjes. Nevelpanters wegen tussen de 11 en 23 kg.
