De bintoerong of beermarter is een zoogdiersoort die voorkomt in de bossen van Zuid- en Zuidoost-Azië. Hij heeft een lang, stevig lichaam met relatief korte, brede poten. Hij heeft een stugge, zwarte vacht met een bruin gezicht en ronde oren met witte puntjes. Vrouwtjes zijn ongeveer 20% groter dan de mannetjes. De bintoerong heeft een hoofd-lichaamslengte van 71 tot 91 cm en een 56 tot 91 cm lange staart. Het mannetje weegt tussen de 9 en 20 kg en het vrouwtje 11 tot 32 kg.
