Il bradipo variegato (o Bradypus variegatus) è un mammifero arboricolo che vive nelle foreste pluviali di Sud America e America Centrale. Ha una pelliccia che varia dal grigio chiaro al marrone, arti allungati, con le braccia più lunghe delle gambe, e una corta coda vestigiale. Mani e piedi sono caratterizzati da tre artigli, molto più lunghi sugli arti anteriori. La testa è arrotondata, con orecchie poco evidenti e strisce marrone scuro che vanno dagli occhi ai lati della testa. I maschi e le femmine sono simili e l'unico tratto che li differenzia sono le macchie sulla schiena tipiche dei maschi. Sono alti circa 60 centimetri e pesano tra 3,5 e 5,2 chili.
