Der Kleine Panda (Ailurus fulgens) ist ein kleines Säugetier, das in den Waldgebieten des Himalaya und in verschiedenen Regionen Chinas heimisch ist. Trotz des Namens ist die Art nicht näher mit dem Großen Panda verwandt, auch wenn beide Arten einige Eigenschaften teilen, wie etwa die Tatsache, dass sie sich hauptsächlich von Bambus ernähren. Der Kleine Panda hat rötliches Fell, schwarze Beine, einen geringelten Schwanz, weiße Ohren und eine weiße Schnauze. Die Tiere erreichen eine Körperlänge von 50 bis 64 Zentimetern, der Schwanz ist noch einmal 28 bis 59 Zentimeter lang. Sie können ausgezeichnet klettern und schwimmen und bevorzugen einen abwechslungsreichen Lebensraum.
