De groene leguaan (of Iguana iguana) is een grote hagedissensoort die voorkomt in heel Midden-Amerika, het noorden van Zuid-Amerika en het Caribisch gebied. Hij heeft een lange staart en een gekartelde kam die van zijn kop tot de onderkant van zijn ruggengraat loopt. Verder heeft hij gespierde poten met lange tenen en klauwen. Ze kunnen ook strepen hebben op hun staart en lichaam.
