De doodsadder (of Acanthophis antarcticus) is een giftige slang die leeft in de graslanden, bossen en 'bushlands' van Oost- en Zuid-Australië. Hij heeft een platte, driehoekige kop, een gedrongen lichaam en een dun staartpuntje. Hij heeft ook een ringenpatroon in de kleuren lichtbruin, donkerbruin en grijs om goed verborgen te kunnen blijven in bijvoorbeeld dode bladeren. Gemiddeld is de doodsadder tussen de 70 en 100 cm lang.
