De algazel (of Oryx dammah) is een antilope die voorheen leefde in en rond de Sahara in Noord-Afrika. De vacht van de algazel is crème-wit met bleekbruine vlekken op de nek, borst en poten. Het gezicht is wit met bruine markeringen. De algazel wordt ook wel sabeloryx genoemd, naar de lange, geribbelde, gekromde hoorns van ruim 1 meter lang. Het dier heeft een lengte van 1,3 tot 2,4 meter en een schofthoogte van 1 tot 1,3 meter. De mannetjes zijn met een gewicht van tussen de 140 en 210 kg iets groter en zwaarder dan de vrouwtjes, die tussen de 90 en 140 kg wegen.
