ハスオビアオジタトカゲは、オーストラリアの森林地帯、低木地帯、半砂漠地帯に生息する爬虫類の一種である。幅広でずんぐりした体つきで、三角形の頭と分厚い尻尾が特徴だ。さまざまな色の個体がいるが、通常は褐色、ベージュ、黒の鱗が縞模様に配置されている。名前の通り、鮮やかな青い舌を持っている。成体の体長は 45~60 cm。
