Il giaguaro (o Panthera onca) è un grande felino che vive in Sud America, America centrale e Messico; raramente ne sono stati avvistati esemplari isolati negli Stati Uniti meridionali. Nonostante possa adattarsi a diversi tipi di ambiente, predilige le foreste fitte nei pressi di paludi e fiumi. Rispetto agli altri grandi felini, il giaguaro ha una corporatura più robusta; pesa in media tra i 56 e i 96 chili ed è lungo tra i 112 e i 185 centimetri. Il manto varia dal giallo all'arancione, con motivi a rosetta neri e il ventre bianco.
