Il panda minore (o Ailurus fulgens) è un piccolo mammifero che vive nelle foreste dell'Himalaya e in diverse zone della Cina. Nonostante il nome, non è imparentato con il panda gigante, anche se ne condivide alcune caratteristiche come la dieta composta principalmente da bambù. Con la sua pelliccia rossa, gambe nere, una coda ad anelli e orecchie e naso bianchi, il panda minore misura dai 50 ai 64 centimetri dalla testa alla fine del corpo, con la coda che può misurare tra i 28 e i 59 centimetri. È un ottimo scalatore e nuotatore e vive in ambienti molto vari.
