La tarantola golia (o Theraphosa blondi) è una specie di tarantola molto grande originaria delle foreste pluviali tropicali, paludi e acquitrini di Suriname, Guyana, Guyana francese, Brasile e Venezuela. È marrone con peli rossicci, ha un grande addome con un grande torace rotondo, grandi zampe segmentate e lunghi pedipalpi (parti della bocca). La femmina è più grande del maschio ed entrambi i sessi hanno delle appendici molto pronunciate all'estremità dell'addome chiamate "filiere" che li aiutano nella tessitura della tela. La tela della tarantola golia viene usata per creare una sacca per le uova e per il trasferimento dello sperma, ma non per la caccia.
