Lo struzzo (o Struthio camelus) è la specie di uccello più grande del mondo. Il maschio ha le piume del corpo nere e bianche sulla punta delle ali e sulla coda, mentre le femmine hanno le piume del corpo marroni. In entrambi i sessi la testa, il collo e le zampe vanno dal rosa al bianco e le variazioni dipendono dalla località di provenienza originaria in Africa. Il maschio raggiunge un'altezza media tra i 2,1 e i 2,8 metri, le femmine sono più piccole e sono alte tra i 1,7 e i 2,0 metri.
