L'orangotango (o Pongo pygmaeus) è originario dell'isola del Borneo, ma ha raggiunto anche il Borneo indonesiano e la Malesia. È un grande primate con una caratteristica pelliccia rossa e pelle marrone. I maschi adulti hanno anche grandi guance e una sacca nella gola con cui emettono forti versi per attirare le femmine. È un animale estremamente intelligente e crea strumenti in natura per procurarsi il cibo. Non sa nuotare e il suo territorio è spesso delimitato da fiumi che non può attraversare.
