Der Rote Vari (Varecia rubra) ist eine vom Aussterben bedrohte Primatenart, die im Regenwald der Masoala-Halbinsel im nördlichen Teil Madagaskars heimisch ist. Die Tiere haben gelbe Augen und schwarze, spitze Gesichter, die von einer typischen Krause aus rotem Fell umgeben sind. Ihre Körper sind mit dichtem, rotem Fell bedeckt, der Schwanz, die Füße und Hände sind dagegen ebenfalls schwarz. Auf dem Kopf haben sie zudem eine Stelle mit weißem Fell.
