Der Eurasische Luchs oder Lynx lynx ist eine mittelgroße Katze, die in den gemäßigten und nördlichen Wäldern und Gebirgen Europas und Asiens zu finden ist. Er ist breit und stämmig gebaut, hat große Füße und ist für seinen kurzen Schwanz und seine spezifischen Ohrpinsel bekannt. Seine Fellfarbe reicht von cremefarben zu hellbraun, jeweils mit schwarzen Flecken am ganzen Körper. Auch Schwanzspitze und Ohrpinsel sind schwarz. Männchen und Weibchen sehen sich ähnlich, wobei Männchen leicht größer und bedeutend schwerer sind. Männliche Eurasische Luchse wiegen 20 bis 45 Kilogramm, haben eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von 98 bis 109 Zentimetern und eine Schulterhöhe von 60 bis 75 Zentimetern. Weibliche Luchse wiegen nur 18 bis 25 Kilogramm, messen 94 bis 106 Zentimeter Kopf-Rumpf-Länge und 54 bis 68 Zentimeter Schulterhöhe. Der stummelige Schwanz ist bei beiden Geschlechtern elf bis 24 Zentimeter lang.
