Die Nördliche Diamantschildkröte ist eine kleine Schildkrötenart, die in den Sümpfen entlang der Küsten im Süden und Osten der USA heimisch ist. Die Tiere sind leicht an ihrem Panzer zu erkennen, der aus verschränkt angeordneten „Diamanten“ besteht, die mit hellen und dunklen konzentrischen Ringen gemustert sind. Die Muster und Färbung ist jedoch von Tier zu Tier unterschiedlich. Im Schnitt werden die Panzer der Männchen etwa 13 cm lang, die der Weibchen bis zu 17 cm.
