De gravende reuzenkakkerlak (Macropanesthia rhinoceros) is een groot insect dat voorkomt in het struweel en de droge wouden van Noord-Australië. Ze zijn ongeveer 8 cm lang, wegen 30 g en zijn donkerrood-bruin van kleur. Ze worden zo genoemd omdat ze holen graven in het zand tot wel 1 meter diep. Ze zijn populaire huisdieren, omdat ze gemakkelijk te verzorgen zijn en het niet erg vinden als je ze oppakt.
