シロクマ (Ursus maritimus) は、北極圏と亜北極地帯に生息する大型のクマの一種である。真っ白な毛皮に黒い目鼻、ずんぐり体型で、がっしりした太ももと大きな足は泳ぐのに適している。熱の消費を最小限に抑えるため、耳は小さく尻尾は短い。オスは体長 2.4～3.0 m、体重350～750 kg で、メスは体長 1.8～2.4 m、体重 150～250 kg。どちらもワモンアザラシやアゴヒゲアザラシを常食としている。
