マヌルネコ (Otocolobus manul) は中央アジアと東アジア原産の小型のヤマネコで、生息地域は西はコーカサス山脈、南はヒマラヤ山脈に限られている。最大の特徴は、驚くほど密生した長い毛で、ぽっちゃりとしたぬいぐるみのような外見をしている。被毛は灰色で、ベージュから赤錆色の色合いになっており、まばらに黒いブチの模様がある。頭は小さく丸く、三角形の小さな耳が厚い毛皮の中から突き出している。オスとメスはよく似ており、頭胴長 46 cm ～ 65 cm、尾の長さ 21 cm ～ 31 cm、体重 2.5 kg ～ 4.5 kg である。
