「一角サイ」とも呼ばれるインドサイ (Rhinoceros unicornis) は、インド北部、ネパール、ブータンの河川流域に棲む大型の有蹄類である。短く太い角と茶色がかった灰色のゴツゴツした肌が特徴で、甲冑のようだ。オスはメスより体が大きく、オスの平均体重 2100 kg、体長 3.7 m に対し、メスは平均 1600 kg、3.2 m である。体の大きさの違い以外に、オスの首には目立つひだがある。
