キアゲハ (Papilio machaon) は、ヨーロッパ、アジア、北米の温帯地域や森林地帯、ツンドラ地帯に生息するチョウである。羽は薄い黄色で、前羽には灰黒色の模様があり、後羽には青黒い模様と赤い目玉模様がある。後ろ羽にある長い「尾」が、英語名である「swallowtail」の由来となっている。サイズにおいても、外見においても性的二型は見られず、羽を広げた平均サイズが 6.5 cm ～ 8.6 cm である。幼虫はふっくらとしており、薄い緑色で、体節に黒とオレンジの模様がある。
