アメリカヘイゲンバイソン (Bison bison bison) は、アメリカ合衆国およびカナダが原産の大型有蹄類である。バイソンは大きな頭と肩のコブと体の前四半部が特徴的で、そのすべてがボサボサの毛で覆われている。後四半部は比較的筋肉が少なく、毛も薄い。オスとメス両方とも角を持ち、大きさも同じくらいだが、オスの方が筋肉が多いため体重はずっと重い。
