エジプシャンルーセットオオコウモリ (Rousettus aegyptiacus) は、サハラ以南のアフリカ、エジプト、アラビア半島の熱帯雨林、落葉樹林、低木林に生息する大型のコウモリである。体は毛で覆われており、色は黄色、オレンジ、茶色などの種類がある。灰黒色の大きな翼を持ち、指の周りはピンク色である。長い鼻の先に潰れた鼻先、大きな丸い目、大きく尖った耳が特徴である。平均では体長 15 cm、翼を広げると約 60 cm になる。体重は 80 g ～ 170 g である。オスはメスよりやや体が大きく、体重も重い傾向がある。
