アライグマ (Procyon lotor) は、北アメリカ大陸全土に生息する中型の哺乳類である。灰褐色の粗い毛、黒い縞模様が入った長い尾、尖った鼻、しばしば「マスク」と表現される目の周りの模様が特徴である。アライグマは前足がとても器用で、手のように使いこなす。体長 41 cm ～70 cm、尾の長さが 19 cm ～ 40 cm である。オスはメスより体重が重く、2.5 kg ～ 10.4 kg、メスは 1.8 kg ～ 7.5 kg である。体の大きさや体重は、亜種や気候、時期によって大きく異なる。
