ビントロング (別名ベアキャット) は、南アジアと東南アジアの森林に生息する哺乳動物である。長くがっちりした胴体に、比較的短く幅広の脚をしており、ゴワゴワした黒い毛に茶色の顔、先端が白くなった丸い耳を持つ。メスはオスよりも約 20% 大きい。頭胴長は 71 ～ 91 cm、尻尾の長さは 56 ～ 91 cm。オスの体重は 9 ～ 20 kg、メスの体重は 11 ～ 32 kg。
