La renna (o Rangifer tarandus) è una specie di ungulati che vive nell'artico e nelle regioni subartiche, in particolare Canada, Stati Uniti (Alaska), Russia, Norvegia, Finlandia e Groenlandia. Il suo aspetto cambia in base all'origine geografica e al periodo dell'anno, ma solitamente la renna ha un manto marrone e bianco e sottogola e muso bianchi, spesso con una colorazione più scura intorno al naso. Ha anche grandi palchi ramificati con punte ricoperte di velluto marrone. I maschi sono lunghi tra gli 1,8 e i 2,1 metri e pesano tra i 159 e i 182 chili, mentre le femmine sono lunghe tra gli 1,6 e i 2,05 metri e pesano tra gli 80 e i 120 chili.
