Il markhor (o capra falconeri) è una grande capra dell'Asia centrale. È un animale robusto con un corpo rotondeggiante. Lo zoccolo fesso permette al markhor di arrampicarsi anche sulle montagne e le pareti più scoscese. È ricoperto di pelliccia spessa di colore grigio-marrone nei maschi e di un marrone più chiaro nelle femmine. Una striscia nera corre sulla spina dorsale, mentre su zampe e muso sono presenti dei segni scuri. I maschi hanno una lunga barba ispida lungo tutto il collo. Entrambi i sessi hanno delle grosse corna a spirale, ma quelle dei maschi sono molto più lunghe. I maschi sono anche più grossi e pesanti delle femmine, con un altezza al garrese compresa tra 0,95 e 1,15 metri e un peso che può raggiungere i 110 chili, mentre le femmine sono alte al garrese tra 75 e 90 centimetri e pesano circa 40 chili.
