Il rinoceronte indiano (o Rhinoceros unicornis) è un grande ungulato originario della regione dei laghi dell'India settentrionale, del Nepal e del Bhutan. Questa specie è contraddistinta da un corno corto e tozzo e dalla pelle marrone-grigia bitorzoluta che può sembrare un'armatura. Il maschio è più grande della femmina e pesa in media 2.100 chili per 3,7 metri di lunghezza, mentre la femmina pesa 1.600 chili per 3,2 metri. Oltre alla differenza di dimensioni, i maschi hanno delle grandi pieghe nel collo.
