L'orso nero di Formosa (o Ursus thibetanus formosanus) è una sottospecie dell'orso tibetano, originario di Taiwan. Tarchiato, con la pelliccia nera, orecchie arrotondate, muso lungo e dritto e una caratteristica particolare, una macchia di pelo bianco a forma di V sul petto. L'orso nero di Formosa è sessualmente dimorfico e il maschio è molto più grande della femmina. Il primo può arrivare a pesare 135 chili per 1,7 metri d'altezza, mentre la seconda pesa in media 70 chili per 1,35 metri d'altezza.
