Il ghepardo (o Acinonyx jubatus) vive nella savana e nelle foreste aride dell'Africa meridionale e centrale. Si riconosce dal corpo snello, le zampe e la coda magre e dai "segni di lacrime" scuri sul muso. Per non parlare della caratteristica più distintiva, le macchie. Il ghepardo è famoso per essere l'animale terrestre più veloce del mondo: quando insegue una preda riesce a raggiungere i 112 km/h. Le sue prede sono generalmente mammiferi di medie dimensioni come le gazzelle e gli impala.
