El jaguar (Panthera onca) es una especie de gran felino que habita en toda Sudamérica, Centroamérica y México, con algunos avistamientos puntuales en el sur de los EE. UU. Aunque pueden vivir en múltiples entornos, tienen preferencia por los bosques frondosos, cerca de pantanos y ríos. Presentan una constitución robusta, en comparación con las otras especies de grandes felinos, y tienen un peso medio de entre 56 y 96 kg, y una longitud de 112 a 185 cm. Su pelaje es de una tonalidad que va del amarillo al naranja, con un patrón de manchas negras y el vientre blanco.
