El oso de anteojos (Tremarctos ornatus) es un oso de tamaño mediano nativo de las regiones andinas de Sudamérica. Tiene un pelaje negro y grueso, con marcas blancas en el rostro y el pecho. El rostro es relativamente plano en comparación con otros osos, lo que demuestra su estrecha relación con los extintos osos de cara corta. Como otros osos, este presenta un gran dimorfismo sexual, pues la hembra es mucho menor que el macho. Este mide entre 76 y 91 cm hasta los hombros y pesa entre 100 y 200 kg, mientras que la hembra tiene una altura de 60-73 cm y un peso de entre solo 35 y 82 kg.
