El leopardo de las nieves (Panthera uncia), reconocible por su piel blanca o grisácea, y características manchas negras en todo el cuerpo así como en la cara, vive en las montañas del Nepal, Tíbet, norte de la India, Siberia meridional, Paquistán, Bután y Mongolia. Su piel es extremadamente espesa y un magnífico aislante que le permite vivir cómodamente a temperaturas de hasta -25ºC. Se alimentan principalmente de cabras y ovejas, pero también cazan pájaros y roedores.
