El panda rojo (Ailurus fulgens) es un pequeño mamífero que habita en los bosques del Himalaya y en varias zonas de China. A pesar de su nombre, no es un pariente cercano del oso panda. Comparte, eso sí, características como una dieta consistente en su práctica totalidad de bambú. Su piel es rojiza, las patas negras, las orejas y el hocico blancos, y presenta anillos en la cola. La cabeza y el cuerpo miden de media entre 50 y 64 cm, y la cola añade entre 28 y 59 cm al total de su longitud. Son unos excelentes trepadores y nadadores, y disfrutan viviendo en entornos variados.
