El oso panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) es una especie de oso nativa de las montañas del centro de China. Su pelaje, blanco y negro, forma un característico diseño, y sus patas, orejas y círculos alrededor de los ojos también son de color negro. Los pandas se alimentan casi exclusivamente de bambú y dependen de los bosques de esta planta para sobrevivir. Es una comida poco energética y necesitan consumir mucha para sobrevivir, por lo que pasan la mayor parte de su día comiendo y buscando alimento. Esta ingesta poco calórica se traduce también en una progenie de tamaño pequeño y muy vulnerable.
