印度犀牛 (Rhinoceros unicornis) 在英文中又叫“大独角犀牛”,是一种大型草食有蹄类动物,原生于印度北部、尼泊尔和不丹的河谷盆地。此物种的特征在于粗短的角和凹凸不平的棕灰色皮肤,常常有人将其皮肤比拟为士兵所穿的板甲。雄犀牛比雌犀牛大,雄犀牛约重 2,100 公斤,体长 3.7 米;雌犀牛平均则重 1,600 公斤,体长 3.2 米。除了大小不同外,雄犀牛颈部还有庞大的皱褶,因此外观也与雌犀牛不同。
