北蘇拉威西鹿豚是一種原生於印尼蘇拉威西島和鄰近小島的豬。北蘇拉威西鹿豚身上大多沒有毛髮，皮膚呈灰色。雄性鹿豚有兩對向後彎曲至前額的獠牙。北蘇拉威西鹿豚頭部加身體的長度為 85 至110 公分、尾巴長 29 至 32 公分，肩高則為 58 至 66 公分。雄性鹿豚的體重可達 70 至 100 公斤，雌性鹿豚則落在 45 至 80 公斤之間。

‘Babirusa’ means ‘pig deer’ in Malay.
Babirusas have a two chambered stomach, more like that of sheep than of other pigs.
The male babirusas tusks continue to grow throughout his life and can even grow into the skull.
Babirusas are missing a bone in the snout that other pigs have, so they do not engage in ‘rooting’ behaviour typical of pigs.
Babirusas are excellent swimmers; it is thought that they are found across various Indonesian islands because they swam to them.
