北极熊 (Ursus maritimus) 是体型庞大的熊类，栖息在北极圈与亚北极带。它们有全白的毛发、深色眼睛与鼻子，体格十分结实，强壮的腿和巨大的脚掌非常适合游泳。为了尽可能减少体温流失，这种熊的耳朵很小，尾巴也很短。雄性身长介于 2.4 至 3.0 米之间，体重在 350 至 750 公斤之间；雌性身长 1.8 至 2.4 米，体重为 150 至 250 公斤。无论雄雌皆会捕食环斑海豹与髯海豹。
