非洲豹 (Panthera pardus pardus) 是豹的指名亚种，原生于非洲中南部。它们有着修长的体型和形状优雅的头部，毛皮底色从黄色到深金色皆有。身上覆盖着小而密集的环纹，这些环纹在靠近下半身、脸部和尾巴尖端的部分会逐渐转变成黑色斑点。其腹部与腿部内侧则为白色。非洲豹为两性异形，雄豹的体型比雌豹更大，体重也更重。雄豹的肩高为 60 到 70 厘米，体长 1.52 至 1.83 米，尾巴长度约 66 厘米，体重落在 58 到 96 公斤之间。雌豹的肩高则为 55 到 65 厘米，体长 1.39 至 1.67 米，尾巴长度约 60 厘米，体重落在 24 到 37.5 公斤之间。

African leopards are quite arboreal, using trees to cache their kills in order to protect them from other, stronger predators like lions, hyenas or wild dogs.
The African leopard has likely been extirpated from Northern Africa and only the Sub-Saharan populations survive in its original range.
