红河猪 (Potamochoerus porcus) 原生于西非和中非的河流、湖泊和沼泽,是小型的猪科动物。它们的身体上覆盖着鲜艳的红色毛皮,有黑色的脸部、腿部、尾巴和耳朵。耳朵上带有长长的黑白色簇毛,背部有一条细细的白色毛发,脸部和耳朵周围有粗糙的白色毛皮。红河猪是两性异形,雄性一般要比雌性体性大且体重较重,具有较宽的头骨,上头有突出的骨骼,并且脸上有长长的胡须。红河猪头部加身体的长度为 100 厘米至 150 厘米,肩高为 50 厘米至 80 厘米,体重为 45 公斤至 115 公斤。

Red river hogs are known to follow foraging chimpanzees in order to pick up the fruit they drop.
