美洲平原野牛 (Bison bison bison) 是原生于美国和加拿大的大型有蹄类动物。美洲野牛的特色是其巨大的头部、肩峰和身体前半部都覆盖着蓬乱的毛皮。它们身体后半部的肌肉相对较少，毛皮也较稀疏。雄性和雌性都有长角，体型也相似，只是雄性具有较多肌肉因而体重较重。
