北苏拉威西鹿豚是一种原生于印度尼西亚苏拉威西岛和邻近小岛的猪。北苏拉威西鹿豚身上大多没有毛发，皮肤呈灰色。雄性鹿豚有两对向后弯曲至前额的獠牙。北苏拉威西鹿豚头部加身体的长度为 85 至110 厘米、尾巴长 29 至 32 厘米，肩高则为 58 至 66 厘米。雄性鹿豚的体重可达 70 至 100 公斤，雌性鹿豚则落在 45 至 80 公斤之间。

‘Babirusa’ means ‘pig deer’ in Malay.
Babirusas have a two chambered stomach, more like that of sheep than of other pigs.
The male babirusas tusks continue to grow throughout his life and can even grow into the skull.
Babirusas are missing a bone in the snout that other pigs have, so they do not engage in ‘rooting’ behaviour typical of pigs.
Babirusas are excellent swimmers; it is thought that they are found across various Indonesian islands because they swam to them.
