钻纹龟是原生于美国东部及南部半咸水和海岸沼泽地区的小型海龟，龟壳上含有深浅色同心环的“钻石形”相连花纹是其主要特征。然而其个体间的花纹和色泽有着相当大的差异。雄钻纹龟的龟壳平均长约 13 厘米，雌龟龟壳则平均长 17 厘米。
