大西洋灰海豹是分布在大西洋周遭陆块 (英国、爱尔兰、冰岛、挪威、丹麦、法国、荷兰、比利时、德国、瑞典、芬兰、爱沙尼亚、拉脱维亚、立陶宛、波兰、俄罗斯、加拿大、美国) 的一种海生哺乳类动物。西大西洋灰海豹的体型比东大西洋灰海豹大上许多。其雄性体长约 2.3 到 2.9 米，重 205 到 370 公斤，雌性则约 1.9 到 2.3 米长，重 160 到 250 公斤。
