Таракан-носорог (Macropanesthia rhinoceros) — это большое насекомое, обитающее в степях и сухих лесах Северной Австралии. Длина его тела достигает приблизительно 8 см, вес — около 30 г. Окрас у него тёмный, красно-коричневый. Своё название это насекомое получило из-за привычки рыть норы в песчаной почве, часто уходя на глубину до одного метра.
