Китайский панголин (Manis pentadactyla) — это насекомоядный ящер, обитающий в Индии, Непале, Бутане, Бангладеш, Мьянме, Тайване и на юге Китая. Вид находится на грани полного исчезновения. Это небольшие, скрытные и медлительные животные, их главным отличительным признаком считается многослойная кератиновая чешуя, покрывающая тело панголина, словно доспех. Длина тела этого ящера составляет от 40 до 58 см, длина хвоста — от 25 до 38 см. Днём они спят в своих норах, а по ночам выбираются на поиски пищи — муравьёв, термитов и других насекомых.
