Пума — это крупный вид кошачьих, обитающий в лесах, горах, пустынях, степях и на лугах Канады, США, Мексики и всей Южной Америки. Другие названия пумы — кугуар и горный лев. Пумы имеют мех песочного цвета, толстые лапы и хвост, широкую голову с закруглёнными ушами и белую морду с тёмными похожими на слёзы отметинами, идущими вниз от глаз. Длина тела вместе с головой у самцов пумы варьируется от 120 до 200 см, рост в холке — от 60 до 90 см, длина хвоста — от 63 до 95 см, а вес — от 53 до 100 кг. У самок длина тела вместе с головой составляет от 90 до 180 см, вес — от 29 до 64 кг, а рост и длина хвоста у них такие же, как у самцов.
