O urso-de-óculos (ou Tremarctos ornatus) é um urso de tamanho médio nativo das regiões andinas da América do Sul. Tem pelagem grossa e preta com marcas brancas no rosto e no peito. A face é relativamente plana em comparação com outros ursos, mostrando sua estreita relação com os extintos ursos de face curta. Como outros ursos, o urso de óculos é altamente dimórfico sexualmente, sendo a fêmea muito menor que o macho. Os ursos de óculos machos têm de 76 cm a 91 cm de altura até a cernelha e pesam de 100 kg a 200 kg, enquanto as fêmeas têm de 60 cm a 73 cm de altura e pesam apenas de 35 kg a 82 kg.
