A barata-rinoceronte (Macropanesthia rhinoceros) é um grande inseto nativo das savanas do norte da Austrália. Mede aproximadamente 8 cm, pesa 30 g e tem coloração vermelho-amarronzada. O nome vem do tamanho avantajado. Tem o hábito de escavar a terra, muitas vezes atingindo até uma profundidade de 1 m. É um animal de estimação popular, por ser fácil de cuidar e responder bem à manipulação.
